leViv Unveils Chef-Inspired Meal Programs for People Managing Chronic Health Conditions and Those Seeking a Healthy Lifestyle
leViv, Inc. (www.leViv.com), a consumer health care company, today introduced breakthrough meal programs designed to allow people diagnosed with Type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease and prostate cancer to easily incorporate restaurant-style cuisine into their lives. leViv has also introduced a meal program for consumers interested in healthy living. The plans are part of a total health management program that includes a month’s worth of meals delivered to the customer’s door, grocery recommendations and recipes, and professional advice and education resources, which collectively aim to help Americans live a healthier life.
“In essence, leViv was born at my parents’ dinner table, as I tried to help them wind their way through a mountain of confusing information to find food choices that would please their doctors and their taste buds,” said Mitchell Goldsteen, CEO and founder, leViv. “They asked, ‘Should we eat tomatoes? Drink red wine? Eat meat or avoid it?’ Their doctors had recommended that they eat one way, but their taste buds kept steering them elsewhere. leViv was founded on the belief that no one should have to choose between happiness and health.”
leViv works directly with individuals, as well as with the designers of corporate health and wellness programs. Each of leViv’s meal programs features 28 days’ worth of food, delivered to the consumer’s door, starting at $299. The orders include more than 110 items, averaging out to two meals and two snacks per day. Consumers are encouraged to rely on leViv’s grocery recommendations when shopping for their third meal each day. Meals are delivered twice per month. The entrĂ©es arrive frozen to give customers the flexibility to consume them when they choose.
“Wild salmon, braised beef short ribs, fettuccine Bolognese – we viewed each entree through the eyes of a gourmand,” said Jayson Grossberg, Managing Director and Global Head of Culinary, leViv. “We like to think that our complex meals would satisfy the Mayo Clinic and the Michelin Guide. We are not offering weight loss recommendations, but rather a complete health management program. Weight loss simply happens to be an added benefit to this approach.”
Of the more than 110 items in an order, approximately half are soups and entrees, including restaurant-quality seafood, free-range, hormone-free poultry, farm-grown produce and whole grains. Additional elements include fruit snacks, salad dressing, bars and crackers. The meals are low in sodium, cholesterol and fat, and rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, minerals and vitamins. leViv put particular emphasis on seasoning and variety, including a mix of gourmet cuisine and comfort foods. The meal plans are crafted by leViv’s management team, a diverse group of professionals with extensive experience in nutrition, health care, food technology and cuisine.
